Getting Inspiration: 'A Bad Idea' by Conor Flynn on YouTube

Now that I have the foundation for the idea of my short film project, I figured the next step was to look for inspiration. For this, I felt there is no better place to look for short films than YouTube. There are so many short films on here ranging in different genres and lengths, but thankfully I found one that really stood out to me, and one that I felt is a great starting point for how I can create my film.
The video is called "'A Bad Idea' - Short Film" by Conor Flynn. The film focuses on a young man interested in creating videos, so he researches over the internet to find tips and advice to get started. After watching a video of the "Hannibal Egg Trick," he finally finds an idea for his video and gathers his camera and egg cartons to recreate the trick. This takes the man countless tries, with him finally achieving the trick in his 99th take, only to find he never even took the lens of his camera.
I enjoyed this film. Despite its simple story, its elements make it very intriguing. Conor's use of dynamic camera shots, angles, color grading, and sound is magnificent. I now feel these are crucial components I must consider in my film, and I will definitely look back at this film when making mine. The way he made a simple story about determination and getting lost in your eagerness so memorable stuck with me the most. I want to make a simple story with significant meaning like this, but I really want to do it in style, and I'm glad it's possible.
