Picking the Set Brief Option
With Component 3: Advanced Portfolio, there are various options to choose from in what I want my portfolio to be based on. This is more challenging than choosing my Component 1: Foundation Portfolio set brief last year, as that only had two options and it was an easy choice to choose the magazine as my portfolio.
I can see that two of the options focus on movies, which I have already expressed my enthusiasm for. I was considering doing the "Film Promotion Package" because on paper, it is simpler to complete than the "Short Film Package," but, I have come to a great realization that has made me finalize my choice;
Although with the "Film Promotion Package," you are making two trailers as opposed to a short film, I feel that would be the harder choice for me because I'd have to create not one but two promotional pieces for a movie or project that isn't "complete" in my mind.
I'd much rather create a short film as it allows me to create that "complete" narrative or story that is my mind, rather than having to manufacture two sets of "bits" of the movie that make it look marketable in order to create the two trailers.
Therefore, I am choosing "Short Film Package" as my set brief for my Component 3: Advanced Portfolio. In the near future, I will outline my ideas and intent for my short film on this blog.
